The School of Information is UC Berkeley’s newest professional school. Located in the center of campus, the I School is a graduate research and education community committed to expanding access to information and to improving its usability, reliability, and credibility while preserving security and privacy.
The School of Information's courses bridge the disciplines of information and computer science, design, social sciences, management, law, and policy. The SXSW Interactive Festival is set to welcome I School alumna danah boyd as the second member of its Hall of Fame, calling her a “trend-setter whose career accomplishments have paved the future of the new media industry.” Dr. boyd received her Ph.D from the School of Information in 2008 and is currently a member of the School of Information Advisory Board.
Social media researcher danah boyd is joining the School of Information Advisory Board. Dr. boyd is a senior researcher at Microsoft Research, a leading scholar of the online lives of today’s youth, and a 2008 alumna of the I School.
