Get Involved & Give Back

Our alumni are one of the school’s most valuable assets — thank you for sharing your expertise, and your most precious resource with us — your time! Together, we are changing the world of technology for the better.

Recruit at the I School

“The I School has been a great source for talent. The candidates are very well-rounded, and since we’ve taken many of the same classes, I know exactly what they know.”
—Ely Liu, MIDS 2019
Executive Director, Digital Analytics, Beachbody

Our students and alumni have a multidisciplinary perspective with expert knowledge and deep experience in their chosen subject matter, which can range from data analysis and modeling, machine learning, product management, data visualization, user experience research, user interface design, policy and legal research, cybersecurity, software development, business strategy, information organization and retrieval, and entrepreneurship.

Add to your company’s talent and give back to the I School by recruiting students and alumni!

You can post open opportunities in the #jobs-and-internships channel on Slack, attend recruiting events, or email Career Services directly to post a job on the I School Job Board or for assistance in developing a recruiting strategy.

Lend your Expertise

Alumna Valerie Lanard, MIMS 2001, hosted a meetup with students at Patreon where she served as Director of Engineering.

Our alumni have a unique perspective and we would love to hear from you! You are always welcome to come back to the I School and share your experience — more than anyone else, students look to you as mentors and inspiration for their own career journeys. We have opportunities for speaking engagements, to serve as panelists, or to chat more informally with students in a variety of contexts. Please email us if you would like to get involved!

Serve as a Bridge: Get Others Involved

Our alumni network is vast — and we need individuals who are interested in serving as a bridge! There are opportunities to help your fellow classmates stay connected, host our regional events, encourage support for the I School, and/or serve as thought-partners in alumni activity planning. Email us if you are interested in being involved; your help is essential and very manageable — small actions that are put together, make a big positive impact!

Serve as a Champion for Diversity & Inclusion

We’re building a diverse and inclusive community, and we need your help. We recognize and celebrate our existing community in all its breadth and richness, and we’re committed to expanding our recruitment efforts to support an even wider variety of students who face challenging circumstances that impede their ability to pursue graduate education in technology and related fields. We welcome alumni interested in serving as champions for diversity, equity, and inclusion, and welcome your ideas and support. Please email us if you are interested. We are committed to serving as an agent of change and we hope you’ll join us!

Give Back to the I School

The support from alumni, partners, and friends is vital to the I School’s continued excellence in teaching, learning, and research, and enables us to meet the challenges of dynamic and fast-changing areas of study. With your support and that of fellow alumni, we can continue recruiting the very best graduate students, attract and retain the nation’s best faculty, and fund leading research that keeps the School on the forefront of the world of information.
