Virtual Classroom TA: Taking the 'distance' out of distance learning

Educators who are not able to gauge the emotional states of students will have less effective teaching sessions. The distance learning market was $200B at the end of 2019 and is expected to grow at 8% CAGR between 2020 and 2026. Facial expression is the most frequently used nonverbal communication mode by the students in a virtual classroom and facial expressions of the students are significantly correlated to their emotions which helps to recognize their comprehension towards the lecture. Significant opportunity arises in virtual classrooms where teaching sessions are fully digitised such that a wide array of data points is available for analysis post-lectures. The Virtual Classroom TA is an online tool with the mission to help instructors improve teaching effectiveness using computer vision to analyze facial expression.
