Edward De Guzman
Autodesk

Edward De Guzman is a user research manager at Autodesk in San Francisco. He manages a team of user researchers in the cloud platforms group, studying how architects, engineers, and designers collaborate and the role that cloud and mobile technology play in facilitating collaboration among project team members. Before joining Autodesk, he was a user researcher at salesforce.com. As a graduate student, Edward published work in the areas of tangible computing, ambient/peripheral displays, and context-aware mobile computing. He holds an M.S. in computer science from the UC Berkeley.

Kristine Hara
Software Engineer, stealth startup
MIMS 2015

Kristine Hara is currently an early engineer at a stealth startup, working to improve music tech. Prior to joining a startup, she was a software engineer at Pandora, leveraging big data and simulations to forecast metrics in digital advertising. Kristine graduated from UC Berkeley in 2012 with high honors in history and integrative biology and received a master’s degree from the UC Berkeley School of Information in 2015. She represented her MIMS final project team at the 2016 Grace Hopper Celebration for Women in Computing, speaking about the future of drones in citizen science. Currently Miss Asian San Francisco 2016, Kristine enjoys writing and has published research in biology, computer science, and data mining.

Bradley Herman
Salesforce
MIMS 2007

Brad Herman is a solution engineering leader at Salesforce and a 2007 graduate of the Berkeley School of Information. After studying information architecture at the I School, Brad wanted to see what the business world was like. He was fortunate to stumble into a technical sales career at Salesforce in San Francisco. He has spent the last ten years helping customers transform their organizations with CRM technology and now leads a team of solution engineers doing the same.

Justin Hu
Ten-X

Justin is vice-president of consumer engagement at Ten-X, a Google-backed real estate tech company creating the next generation home journey for buyers and sellers. Previously, he had his second exit with dotloop, a “transaction network” that facilitates >$35B in real estate transactions each month, which was acquired by Zillow. Justin previously led product at LoopNet, a commercial real estate marketplace, through its acquisition for $950M.

Matt Hural
Product Manager, Facebook

After a career in architecture and landscape design, Matt made the transition to virtual spaces and mobile gaming as a video game designer in 2008. He has since worked at companies like OMGPOP, where he worked on the most played mobile game of 2012, Draw Something, and has run the digital components of the New York Times Crossword puzzle, including designing and releasing the “Mini” Puzzle in 2014. He currently works as a product manager at Facebook on Ads Transparency and Control, responsible for explaining how Facebook makes use of user data for ads targeting and rolling out new controls so that users have a voice in the kinds of ads they see on Facebook.

Kristine Ng
Senior Interaction Designer, GE Digital
MIMS 2012

Kristine Ng is a user experience designer, researcher, and strategist with experience in SaaS, B2B, and enterprise software. She is currently working at GE Digital, focusing on using design thinking methods to tackle complex problems and design elegant solutions for the Industrial Internet of Things. She is an I School alum (MIMS 2012) and holds a BFA in graphic design from Washington University, St. Louis.
