Biography

My name is Ernesto Del Valle and I am a Data Scientist with past experience in Investment Management. I am curious about solving challenging problems that have a positive impact on the organizations posing them, and ideally on broader society too. I seek to learn continuously, which led to my involvement in the Master of Information and Data Science (MIDS) program.

I graduated from MIDS in May 2020 and shortly thereafter I joined Whiterock AI as a Co-founder & CTO (https://www.whiterock.ai/). At Whiterock we strive to provide timely and actionable intelligence to our investors derived from a systematic and repeatable approach to the investment process. In doing so, we leverage both traditional fundamental and alternative data.

Before my current role, I was a Director of Risk Analytics and Data Science (RADS) at Credibly, where I managed a team of data scientists through multiple technical projects. Before Credibly, I was a Data Scientist at Fig Loans, a Junior Portfolio Manager at Balyasny Asset Management and a Senior Analyst at Point72 Asset Management. All together I spent four years in the hedge fund industry, investing primarily in the Industrials sector through Long/Short Equity strategies. Previously, I started my career in Finance as an Investment Banking Analyst for two years at Credit Suisse, with the Latin America Coverage Group. This gave me the opportunity to work on diverse transactions upon graduating college, from Mexico's first ever Energy IPO to Industrial M&A in Colombia. What unifies my professional experience across both Financial Services and Data Science? A passion for both numbers and people in solving challenging problems.

For undergrad, I attended the University of Pennsylvania, completing degrees at both the College of Arts and Sciences and the Wharton School. I graduated with a B.A. in Mathematics and a B.S. in Economics (concentrations in Finance, Statistics and Operations and Information Management with an OPIM Business Analytics track), Magna Cum Laude.

I grew up in Mexico City up to high school. Spanish is my native language and my parents remain in Mexico City while I currently reside in NYC. I love soccer and sports broadly!
