Knight News Challenge Information Session

Monday, October 4, 2010
12:30 pm to 2:00 pm

The Knight News Challenge is a contest to spur innovation in the delivery of information and news using digital media.

The challenge rewards innovative ideas that develop platforms, tools, and services to inform and transform community news, conversations, and information distribution and visualization. Whether it’s election coverage, crime statistics, little league scores, road conditions or anything else, the Knight News Challenge is looking for smart, innovative solutions that connect people with the news and information that matters most to them.

Jennifer 8. Lee, a consultant to the Knight News Challenge, will be on hand to discuss and answer questions about the $25-million grant competition, which opens in mid-October. For the 2010 round, the News Challenge received over 2,300 applications and gave out 12 grants totaling $2.74 million. Come ask questions and learn about past projects, common mistakes, and what trends the Knight News Challenge has seen. Some interesting areas in the news space include user experience, urban sensors, and open-source mobile frameworks.

Refreshments will be served.
