GoBituary Rekindled

Our project is an interactive data visualization that explores often-overlooked aspects of life, which may seem to end at the cemetery but continue through remembrance and legacy. The visualization draws inspiration from the universal symbolism of candles as a representation of memory, reflection, and connection to the past. Across cultures and traditions, candles are used in rituals to honor the departed, making them a meaningful and inclusive metaphor for this project. Information displayed will be informed by survey and user interview data. 

The installation will feature a hybrid digital and physical display. Part of the experience is facilitated through an online web app, while the other takes place physically in the cemetery. These two components are interconnected: changes made to one are reflected in the other, creating an interactive feedback loop. This connection mirrors the enduring bond between the living and their departed loved ones, bridging physical distance and fostering shared spaces for reflection and remembrance.
