FoodHUD

FoodHUD, the Food Heads-Up Display, is an easy-to-use web application where a user uploads an image of food and then receives the name of the food along with an estimate of the caloric content of the food for every 100 grams of it. We call this the "Caloric Density" of the food.

This app runs through via the Google App Engine. It uses a modified Keras network fine-tuned on the Food101 data set to predict the type of food in a picture. It then links that type of food to a caloric density value derived from the USDA Standard Reference.
