Air Quality Visualizations

Based on combined data from the EPA and from the Center for Disease Control dating back to 1980 we’ve created a series of visualizations allowing for an overall analysis of Air Quality trends in the US. High level overview visualizations suggest that Air Quality, based on Air Quality Index data, has steadily improved over the decades and this website shows these trends in a number of ways. The main page walks the viewer through the basics of the Air Quality Index, highlights a number of interesting results from the data, and allows for the viewer to focus on a single City or State of interest through interactions. The website also provides a robust series of visualizations directed at potential policy makers, researchers, and the curious public. These additional interactive dashboards allow for a ‘deep dive’ into the data and provide a rich perspective at both the City and State levels.
