Biography

Aloha! I'm Melia Soque, and I'm currently a second-year Master's student in Information, Data Science at the University of California, Berkeley. Born and raised from Honolulu, Hawaii my academic and research interests lie at the intersection of data analytics, social justice, and public health.

Prior to Berkeley, I completed my undergraduate studies in Data Science Analytics and Visualization from Chaminade University of Honolulu and dabbled in various research projects ranging from healthcare informatics to policy analysis. My work, both in academia and in the community, revolves around using data to tell stories that matter—stories that can bring about change. This has led me to delve into a mixed-methods approach, utilizing both quantitative and qualitative data types to tackle complex issues like the Native Hawaiian migration trends
