The School of Information is pushing the frontiers of information management and systems, data science, and cybersecurity, and the support of our alumni and friends is vital to our success. The I School Fund
Unrestricted support provides flexible funding that can be put to work where the current need is greatest, like career services, fellowships for promising students, seed funding for initiatives that meet emerging needs, and critical care for our historic home at South Hall. Gifts to the I School Fund can be used to support any program or activity at the School of Information, and allow the School to use them when and where they are needed most.
The AnnaLee Saxenian Graduate Student Support Fund
Established in 2006 with a gift from former I School dean AnnaLee Saxenian, gifts to the Saxenian fund assist students from a broad range of backgrounds and academic disciplines whose original research advances the I School mission: expanding access to information and its usability, reliability, and credibility, while preserving security and privacy. By reducing tuition obligations, students gain greater financial freedom and, quite often, greater opportunity to pursue their academic, professional, and personal potential.
The School of Information Opportunity Fellowship Fund
Fellowships help the I School attract the very best and brightest students — fueling dynamic partnerships between faculty and students that are fundamental to innovative teaching and research. The Opportunity Fellowship Fund provides much-needed fellowship support to students who have overcome significant challenges in pursuing higher education; shown leadership in the fields of diversity, equity, and inclusion; or whose research addresses social inequality and/or social impact.
Center for Long-Term Cybersecurity Fund
Global cybersecurity is a complex challenge that demands collaborative solutions. Support for the Center for Long-Term Cybersecurity (CLTC) helps our students and faculty advance groundbreaking research, train future information security professionals, and fuels our mission to anticipate and address tomorrow’s cybersecurity challenges in order to amplify the upside of the digital revolution. The Center for Long-Term Cybersecurity’s Corporate Membership Program provides companies with ongoing insights and can support your team across multiple dimensions of cybersecurity, including technical challenges, human-computer interaction, and policy regulation. Ways to Give
There are many ways to give that suit a variety of tax situations or maximize your contribution to the fullest extent. Learn more about making the following types of gifts here:
Check and credit card gifts. Gifts of cash made through the UC Regents and the UC Berkeley Foundation are equally tax-deductible and are used for the purposes specified by you. Download a giving form to mail in with your gift.
Securities. Gifts of appreciated securities can be made to one of two brokerage firms at the UC Berkeley Foundation. Visit the frequently asked questions page on UC Berkeley’s giving site and click “Securities” to find out which one is best for you, or contact the UC Berkeley Foundation at (510) 642-6791 or email@example.com.
Matching Gifts. Many employers will double or even triple their employees’ philanthropic contributions through a matching gift program. To see if your organization has a matching gift program, visit the frequently asked questions page on UC Berkeley’s giving site and scroll down to “Employer Matching Gift Search” or contact your company’s human resources department.
Planned Gifts. Your legacy gift may enable you to make more significant support than you thought possible while at the same time allowing you to achieve your financial, philanthropic, and real estate planning goals. UC Berkeley’s Office of Gift Planning offers a comprehensive web site featuring online tools that guide you through a variety of gift options. Donor Advised Funds. Please see the Donor Advised Funds section on the frequently asked questions page on UC Berkeley’s giving site for complete instructions.
Wire transfer/ACH transfer. Wire transfers are most commonly used for gifts made from outside the United States. You should alert UC Berkeley that a wire transfer has been made. Automated Clearing House (ACH) transfers, on the other hand, can be sent only from domestic banks, and a unique routing number must be used for ACH transfers: 121000358. ACH transfers will not work from international banks.
