While pursuing the MIDS degree at Berkeley, I work as a Team Leader in the Engineering department at Bloomberg LP (www.bloomberg.com). Bloomberg delivers business and financial information, news and insight around the world. As Tom Secunda, co-founder of Bloomberg once said, "We are many things, and one of the things we are is a technology company".
Through Bloomberg Philanthropies I have also been exposed to our engagement program that supports causes and efforts in arts, culture, education, sustainability and environmental awareness. Since 2014, Bloomberg has been hosting "Data for Good Exchange", a yearly conference on applications of data science to problems related to the social good.
Both the technical aspects of my job, that requires a strong understanding of the latest developments in data collection, storage and analytics, and the company-wide engagement with data for social good have sparked my interest in information and data science, and led me to pursue a degree at Berkeley.
Prior to my current position at Bloomberg, I have worked as a software engineer with Brainpower, a Switzerland based provider of e-finance and intranet financial applications to both online service providers and investment professionals.
My academic background is a M.Sc. in Computer Engineering at Universita' di Pavia, Italy.
