Daniel Santamaría Ots is a Senior Policy Analyst at Espacios Abiertos (EA).  At EA, Daniel leads the development and supervision of policy reports related to fiscal accountability and government transparency. Prior to joining Espacios Abiertos, Santamaría Ots worked as Policy Manager at The Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL) of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). As Program Manager at J-PAL, he supervised two initiatives with the Department of the Family and the Department of Education of Puerto Rico. Before relocating to Puerto Rico, Santamaría Ots worked as asset manager in the financial sector in Barcelona. After moving to Puerto Rico, Daniel worked as Assistant Secretary of the Department of Economic Development, and in the Management Consulting Industry focusing on the Government, Banking, and Telecommunications sectors. Santamaría Ots holds a B.A. in Economics from the University of Barcelona, a Master of Public Administration from the School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA) at Columbia University in the City of New York, and a Master of Information and Data Science from the UC Berkeley School of Information.
