Biography
Aysu Jabrayilova is a learning designer and systems thinker who believes deeply in the power of education to transform lives. With a global background in instructional design, educational technology, and inclusive pedagogy, she has nearly a decade of experience developing digital and blended learning environments. Aysu’s trauma-informed approach to creating equitable frameworks, cultures, and practices aims to empower individuals and communities by understanding and transforming what factors may prevent them from flourishing.
At Georgetown University, Aysu supported cross-disciplinary innovation through her work with the Center for New Designs in Learning and Scholarship (CNDLS) and the Red House research and design unit. There, she contributed to developing and operationalizing the groundbreaking Journey Framework, an ecological model to transform cycles of intergenerational trauma into cycles of wellbeing. Recognizing that trauma prevents innovation and learning development, Aysu studied the science and psychology of how trauma shapes our lives and conception of information. This work laid the foundation for new curriculum and practices to foster individual, institutional, and societal resilience.
Previously, Aysu served as a faculty developer and lecturer at the Azerbaijan State University of Economics and worked with the German Sparkassenstiftung for International Cooperation, where she led large-scale financial literacy programs and coordinated international education initiatives. A certified financial education trainer, she designs and delivers empowerment workshops for girls from economically disadvantaged communities, including designing and deploying a Life System Design Thinking course.
Aysu holds a master’s degree in Learning, Design, and Technology from Georgetown University and a B.S. in Administrative Management from the Azerbaijan State University of Economics. She is fluent in Azerbaijani, English, Russian, and Turkish, and is passionate about building educational ecosystems that integrate innovation, access, and social impact.
