School of Information Response to COVID-19 Coronavirus

All I School classes will be conducted by distance learning beginning on March 10 through the end of the spring semester.

All upcoming I School events will be cancelled or provided remotely during this time.

All I School staff will be working remotely until at least April 7. Faculty and students should do likewise.

Alameda County has issued a “shelter in place” order through at least April 7. Therefore, South Hall is closed. The building will be accessible by card key only, and only under extraordinary circumstances.

I School operations will continue as usual, albeit remotely. Please feel free to contact any of our staff by email; we plan to be available to you during normal business hours.

Many instructors will be streaming and/or recording class through Zoom. We are aware that some students may not have the ideal space or Internet connection at home, and we are committed to working with you all as we take these precautionary steps. Please reach out to if you need assistance.

Most campus buildings are closed, and most campus operations are shut down, except for student housing and dining and essential health services. Essential research operations will continue on campus only with the express permission of the office of the Vice Chancellor for Research.

We recognize that this is a disruptive and stressful situation and that it is evolving rapidly. We’re thankful to be part of a cohesive community and ask that we all continue to support one another with grace and kindness.

Thank you for your flexibility and patience as we deal with this uncertain and fast-moving situation.
