User Research Intern (Grove Collaborative)

Job Title

User Research Intern

Company

Grove Collaborative

Location

San Francisco, CA

Description

Grove Collaborative is a digitally native brand and direct-to-consumer e-commerce platform for natural home and personal care products. Our mission is to help every family create a healthy, beautiful home.

We’re looking for a User Experience Research Intern to support the Product Design team at our HQ in San Francisco. You’ll support qualitative user research activities for our core digital product in weekly recurring user sessions and additional research studies. You’ll do everything from planning and executing research to summarizing findings and debriefing with cross-functional teams.

Your strengths are primarily in user research, but you also know how research influences the design of great user-centered experiences. You’ll work closely with our user research team, in addition to product designers and other cross-functional teams.

About You

  • You are currently pursuing studies in human-computer interaction, qualitative user research, anthropology or sociology.
  • You have some experience planning and conducting interviews, secondary research, surveys and usability testing.
  • You know how to synthesize and present actionable summaries of research findings.
  • You seek out feedback early and often and receive critique gracefully.
  • You know how to go heads-down and get stuff done, but also when to take a step back.
  • You’re excited to contribute to and define research processes on a small design team in a fast-growing startup.

Must Haves

  • Enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in HCI, user research, anthropology or sociology and graduating on or after December 1st, 2019
  • Familiarity with qualitative user research methodology like ethnographic-style interviews and usability testing
  • Self-motivated and highly organized
  • Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
  • Comfortable in the Google app suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides) and some proficiency in design and prototyping tools (i.e., Sketch, InVision)
