Open to all women-identifying MIDS students and faculty.

Women in MIDS hosts a monthly Coffee Meetup Series. Typically meetups have 30 minutes dedicated to speakers, industry-relevant videos, and other activities to empower women in data science, with the remaining 30 minutes open for discussions.

Dr. Rebecca Bilbro is a data scientist, Python and Go programmer, and applied NLP developer who has worked in numerous startups from public sector to media & entertainment to enterprise security.

As founder and CTO of Rotational Labs, an intelligent distributed systems company, Rebecca specializes in machine learning optimization and API development in distributed data systems. She is also co-creator of the popular open source machine learning library Yellowbrick, a faculty member in Georgetown University’s Data Science Certificate Program, and author of the O'Reilly book Applied Text Analysis with Python.

Rebecca earned her doctorate in 2011 from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, where her research centered on communication and visualization in engineering. She also holds a bachelor’s degree from Skidmore College in mathematics and English.
