Developmental Studies Center Information Session

Monday, February 23, 2015
5:00 pm to 7:00 pm

Meet representatives from the Developmental Studies Center (DSC) who are interested in hiring in a variety of areas, including UX and front-end development.

Developmental Studies Center (DSC) is a non-profit education publisher of language arts programs for students from kindergarten through sixth grade. We believe that all children, regardless of gender, race, ethnicity, or economic status, should be able to grow to their fullest potential—academically, ethically, socially, and emotionally. Our mission is to create classroom communities in which all students feel valued, have opportunities to participate, and are supported in their social and academic development. About three years ago, we began the transition from a print-based portfolio to a hybrid print/digital portfolio.

A core function of the technology group within DSC is the creation of a suite of digital tools for teacher use. The group designs and implements solutions to address elements within DSC programs that are time-consuming and/or challenging for teachers to learn or manage (e.g. learning cooperative teaching skills in the context of our pedagogy, lesson planning, student assessment, classroom management). The group has also begun to design independent practice activities for students to work on independently (beyond the whole group and small group instruction led by the teacher).

DSC is located in Emeryville, CA. Please note that DSC will be changing its name to Center for the Collaborative Classroom (CCC) effective March 1.
