Office Coordinator

The Berkeley School of Information seeks applicants for the position of office coordinator.

The office coordinator oversees the School of Information’s main office to ensure operations run smoothly and effectively, acting as a central point of information for the School, and managing assigned HR functions including hiring and separation processes, staff and faculty orientation, benefits counseling, and general personnel policies and procedures. The office coordinator is also responsible for financial, budgetary, and operational analysis and oversight for the office.

Responsibilities

65% — Administers and manages the School of Information office.  Is the central point of information for the School of Information community.  Plans and manages the workflow and related processes and procedures for casual and student employees including all office administration and related functions. 

10% — Gathers and analyzes financial and other resource data; prepares reports or analyses of operational activities, evaluates current and proposed administrative processes and procedures for the School of Information., etc.

5% — Functions as a community resource for  School of Information administration. 

5% — Assesses and recommends changes to maintain compliance with federal and state requirements and internal policies.

5% — Participates in the development and revision of standard operating procedures and guidelines to provide effective and efficient administration.

5% — Provides assistance to the Dean and Assistant Dean as needed .

5% — Works on special projects.  Participates in continuing education to maintain skills.

Required Qualifications

  • Solid communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with all levels of staff, both verbally and in writing.

  • Solid organizational skills and ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes.

  • Ability to use discretion and maintain all confidentiality.

  • Ability to use sound judgment in responding to issues and concerns.

  • Working knowledge of common computer application programs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.

  • Working knowledge of common campus-specific and other computer application programs.

This is a designated position requiring fingerprinting and a background check due to the nature of the job responsibilities. Berkeley does hire people with conviction histories and reviews information received in the context of the job responsibilities. The hourly salary range designated for this position is $21.70 - $28.73; starting salary will be commensurate with experience.
