The Citizen Clinic (Info 289 / Cyber 289*) is a public-interest cybersecurity course that supports the capacity of politically-targeted organizations to defend themselves against online threats.

Join us online to hear more about Citizen Clinic, meet the staff and former students, and discuss enrollment in the course, Information 289 or Cybersecurity 289*.

Citizen Clinic is the first public interest cybersecurity clinic of its kind. The clinic, sponsored by the Berkeley School of Information, provides interdisciplinary teams of students with hands-on experience developing and implementing cybersecurity practices for politically vulnerable organizations.

Examples of student projects include:

  • Protecting the LGBT community from online extremist groups
  • Improving the safety of human rights advocates during high-risk investigations
  • Understanding government surveillance of indigenous communities in Latin America

Join the online information session

Accepting applications for the Spring 2022 semester now through November 1.

* Cyber 289 is open to MICS students only.
