tldr - Interfaces for Large-Scale Online Discussion Spaces

Recent years have seen a proliferation of online discussion spaces with hundreds to thousands of messages/participants - sites that support these shared public conversations include news outlets such as the New York Times,  social aggregators such as Reddit, traditional phpBB web forums, comment sections on blogs such as Engadget and many many more. Users participating in these discussions are overwhelmed by the sheer amount of information presented, and the systems that support these conversations are lacking in functionality that lets users navigate to content of interest.

tldr is an application built for navigating through large-scale discussions. Guided by user research and data analysis, the design incorporates several unique features such as visual overviews, appropriate social cues, non-linear browsing, and multidimensional filtering, all of which help improve the experience of participating in large-discussions.
