The Berkeley I School’s advantage

The I School allowed me to further my education at a respected institute without having to take time out from my career or personal life.

Favorite class

I loved Research Design and Applications for Data and Analysis. I loved learning about humans’ natural biases, how we best learn and retain knowledge, and how I can design presentations that respond to those needs.

What do you love about data science?

I love to build complex analytics and visual reports for executives to help them make informed business decisions.  When someone asks, “Why are China's numbers spiking?” I love digging into the data and providing a comprehensive response. That’s exactly what I get to do today and what I hope to continue to do in the future!

Advice for aspiring data scientists

Data science is an amazing job where you get to be a detective, an artist, and a coder all at once. It’s challenging. There are always new technologies to learn, and every day you iterate through umpteen “shoot, that didn't work” moments before you get your result.  You have to be tenacious. You have to lean in to learning new things when you’re tired and want to stick with what you already know. But the results are so worth it — getting to work on fascinating problems, and the appreciation after you find a solution.
