MIDS Student

Focus

In the MIDS program I hope to study natural language processing applications of data science.

Biography

Originally from Delaware, I spent the last 27 years of my life in Virginia, most recently in Arlington. I have a background in mathematics, but most of my career have worked as a software engineer. I specialized in using enterprise Java to build financial web applications for the U.S. intelligence community. After years in this field, I began looking for a career change that would get me back into math and use my skills with databases. Also, earlier in my career I did some research in data mining and computational lingustics that I enjoyed. For these reasons, data science seemed like a natural direction. In the summer of 2019 I completed a fellowship in data engineering that introduced me to the field and led to a new job as a data engineer. Now I'm living and working in San Francisco, starting the next chapter of my life as a Californian and looking forward to becoming a leader in the field of data science some day.
