Alumni Startup Automatic Acquired by SiriusXM

The startup Automatic announced today that they have been acquired by SiriusXM for “a little north of $100 million,” according to TechCrunch.

The company was founded in 2013 by I School alumni Ljuba Miljkovic (MIMS 2010) and Thejo Kote (MIMS 2011), along with fellow UC Berkeley alumnus Jerry Jariyasunant.

Automatic sells a tiny piece of intelligent hardware called the Automatic Link that connects your iPhone to your car’s onboard computer when you drive. Automatic is a smart driving assistant that helps you save gas, drive safer and understand what's happening under the hood. It also remembers where you parked and can automatically call for help in a crash.

Miljkovic wrote in a blog post today that Automatic’s “brand, products, and team are staying right where they are.” The company is based in San Francisco.
