The School of Information is UC Berkeley’s newest professional school. Located in the center of campus, the I School is a graduate research and education community committed to expanding access to information and to improving its usability, reliability, and credibility while preserving security and privacy.
The School of Information's courses bridge the disciplines of information and computer science, design, social sciences, management, law, and policy. This year's Maker Faire features the I School student project "Art/Mo/Sphere," a virtual bubble-blowing interface developed by students Ashley Kayler, Michael Manoochehri, and Laura Paajanen for the school's course in Tangible User Interfaces.
Master's students Ljuba Miljkovic and Ben Cohen have developed a more usable interface for BART's ticket kiosks, even within the constraints of the existing technology.
The fellowship, established in the memory of the late I School professor, will support Srinivasan's dissertation research on information-based development initiatives in India.
