Cybersecurity Summer 2026 Capstone Project Showcase
Capstone projects are the culmination of the MICS students’ work in the School of Information’s Master of Information and Cybersecurity program.
Over the course of their final semester, teams of students propose and select project ideas, conduct and communicate their work, receive and provide feedback, and deliver compelling presentations along with a web-based final deliverable. A panel of judges will select an outstanding project for the Lily L. Chang MICS Capstone Award.

Jordan Hull
Architect
Microsoft
Jordan Hull is a Microsoft architect with 20 years of experience building cloud and AI systems. His work focuses on resilient AI architecture, technical education, and advisory services, and he is an inventor on multiple AI and cloud patents. He has built and scaled companies from the ground up and leads engineering initiatives for several charitable organizations. Jordan regularly speaks at industry events about designing AI platforms that perform reliably in real-world environments.
Dr. Sherin Mathews
Head of Applied AI
AI Center of Excellence
U.S. Bank
Dr. Sherin Mathews is the head of applied AI in the AI Center of Excellence at U.S. Bank. She has spearheaded key initiatives, including 1LoD control rationalization, Project Glasswing (a critical evaluation of frontier AI models in cybersecurity), and the Lumenova guardrail and RAI platform. Known for her strong technical depth, execution discipline, and ability to align diverse stakeholders across both technical and business dimensions, Sherin excels at translating complex AI strategies into tangible business outcomes.
Prior to US Bank, Sherin was at Intel Security and McAfee where she led explainable AI initiatives and developed AI solutions for cybersecurity use cases, including ransomware detection, steganography defense, deepfake detection, and generative AI disinformation detection. Sherin completed her Ph.D. and master’s degree at the University of Delaware, where her doctoral research focused on deep learning and dictionary learning algorithms for wearable sensor-based activity recognition.
Swati Ranganathan

Swati Ranganathan is a technology executive with over 20 years of experience spanning CIO, CISO, and enterprise technology leadership roles across fintech, SaaS, AI, and manufacturing. He played a key role scaling BILL.com’s technology organization through its IPO, growing the platform roughly 10x, before leading enterprise applications and business systems functions at RingCentral and Rocket Fuel during periods of rapid growth, and holding CIO and CISO roles at Elo Touch Solutions. He currently leads governance, risk, and compliance at Postman, where he has focused on improving customer experience and reducing friction in enterprise security and compliance processes. He is known for pairing enterprise-grade rigor with startup-speed execution.
