In an industry dominated by digital technologies and streaming, how can musicians and other artists retain agency and fair compensation?

The event will highlight ways in which working musicians and other artists can retain agency and fight for adequate compensation while navigating an evolving industry dominated by digital technologies and streaming services.

Jenny Toomey (moderator)

Jenny Toomey is an Executive Fellow in Applied Technology Policy and the founding director of the Ford Foundation Public Interest Catalyst Fund.

Liz Pelly

Liz Pelly is a music journalist and author of Mood Machine, a book about Spotify's impact on music.

Peter DiCola

Peter DiCola is a professor of law at Northwestern Pritzker School of Law, and the author or co-author of several law review articles on topics such as how professional photographers view copyright, the ways musicians earn revenue, and the regulation of digital music services. He is currently working on a project about how to model the economics of copyright after the rise of internet-based intermediaries.
