Master’s Student Mentorship Programs

The I School Mentorship Programs provide an opportunity for master’s students to be paired with alumni and industry professionals for support and advice on a wide range of topics, including coursework planning, accessing program resources, and navigating the job search.

How It Works

  1. Students will receive an email when it’s time to sign up.

  2. Interested students can fill out a form to request what they are hoping to gain from the relationship, the desired background or experience of a potential mentor, etc.

  3. Staff will use this information to match students with available mentors.

  4. Students and mentors will be asked to complete a short mentorship agreement, to ensure expectations are matched, and to commit to a minimum meeting frequency.

  5. Students & mentors meet in their preferred format (in person, Zoom, phone, etc.)

  6. Students and mentors commit to a one- or two-semester mentorship. In some cases, they may be able to extend that time frame if everyone is interested.

When Can I Sign Up?

MIMS Students

Mentorship invitations are sent to second-year MIMS students during the fall semester of their second year.

MIDS Students

Mentorship invitations are sent to new MIDS students in the middle of their first semester.

MICS Students

Mentorship invitations are sent twice a year (mid-spring and mid-fall). Any current MICS student may request a mentor, but priority is given to students in their third semester.

Another Opportunity to Connect: Alumni in Residence
