Business Services Manager

The School of Information is now seeking a business services manager.

The Business Services Manager will provide short- and long-term strategic planning for Business Services for the School of Information. Additionally, s/he will oversee payroll and human resource planning and operations for the I School as a whole. S/he will manage staff HR, hiring and separations, space planning, facilities, visas, and our Visiting Scholar program. S/he will supervise the Facilities Coordinator and the Office Coordinator/Receptionist, and oversee the smooth running of office services and staff. S/he will act as a primary liaison with Campus Shared Services and supervise our student assistants, overseeing their work and ensuring adherence to I School policy. The Business Services Manager will also be responsible for financial, budgetary, and operational analysis and oversight for Business Services, in coordination with the I School’s Financial Analyst.

Responsibilities

50% — Manages, plans and administers a range of administrative operations for the School of Information. Administrative operations include budgetary financial management,human resources, coordination with Campus Shared Services, and facilities/business office.

10% — Develops and prepares budgets and financial reports for funding which may be complex. Performs recharge administration.

10% — Coordinates and participates in a variety of human resources activities including employment, training, classification and ensuring the completion of forms and documents related to HR and Payroll for unit/department.

10% — Supervises a small staff of support employees and/or students.

10% — Administers facilities and space logistics and manages equipment needs.

5% — Performs studies for resource plans, including approaches, trends, sources and uses. Gathers, analyzes, prepares and summarizes financial and HR reports.

5% — Acts as safety coordinator.

Required Qualifications

  • Thorough knowledge computer application programs, including Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with all levels of staff, both verbally and in writing.

  • Outstanding organizational skills and ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes.

  • Ability to use discretion and maintain all confidentiality.

  • Ability to use sound judgment in responding to issues and concerns.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Thorough knowledge of common campus-specific and other computer application programs, including BearBuy, Travel & Entertainment, HCM, OPTRS, e-Scholar, BAIRS, and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Bachelor’s degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.

The salary range designated for this position: $62,000 - $75,000. Starting salary will be commensurate with experience.
