Propose a New Data Science Course
The Master of Information and Data Science program at the School of Information at UC Berkeley welcomes proposals for new course concepts that align with the MIDS curriculum and reflect emerging technologies, evolving industry demands, and rigorous graduate-level expectations.
Proposals should be designed for a highly motivated population of advanced graduate students who bring strong critical thinking, analytical, and professional experience to their learning.
Who Should Submit a Proposal
Proposals are encouraged from senior industry professionals, technical leaders, and experienced practitioners with substantial real-world experience in data science, cybersecurity, or adjacent fields. Ideal candidates have built, deployed, secured, or led complex systems and can translate industry practice, decision-making, and tradeoffs into rigorous, graduate-level online learning. Prior teaching experience is welcome but not required.

The Master of Information and Data Science (MIDS) prepares data science professionals to address real-world challenges through rigorous technical training, applied learning, and interdisciplinary perspectives.
Submission Requirements
Respondents to this call for proposals must submit a cover letter and course proposal using the form below. The course proposal should contain at minimum a course description, weekly topic breakdown for a 14-week course, brief descriptions of assignments, grading information, and reading list.
