After earning a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science with a minor in Studio Arts from Tufts University in 2001 I moved to San Diego and began working for a small software company. I realized early on that my interest was in the front-end of our software application and transitioned into the role of User Interface Engineer the following year.
In 2005 I began working on a Master's degree at the School of Information (formerly known as SIMS) at the University of California, Berkeley. This degree, which will be completed in May of 2007, has provided me with formal training in user interface design and user needs assessment.
To gain additional experience in user interface design, I completed a three month internship at Salesforce.com during the summer of 2006. This position allowed me to further hone my skills by working closely with a team of accomplished user experience professionals. The project that I was assigned followed a full user-centered design process which included user interviews, several design iterations, usability testing, a high fidelity prototype and, ultimately, development of the feature.
