Dear [colleague]: Enclosed are some materials about the E-commerce Taxation Workshop, which will be held Friday, October 1, 1999 8-5PM at the School of Information Management and Systems, UC Berkeley. Logistics o getting from the airport to the Claremont o a list of attendees and affiliations o an agenda Content o sample discussion questions o a review article by David Hardesty that summarizes the main issues o a review article by Rich Prem (previously sent) Please read these materials before coming to Berkeley. At the meeting we provide you with a binder containing additional materials. We have also created a Web site at http://www.sims.berkeley.edu/affiliates/workshops/tax99 that contains material about the workshop, along with related links. Our hope is to draw on your expertise to come up with a research agenda, pointers to the literature, data sources and insights that will be helpful to the policy discussion. We will have a person taking notes at the meeting. Those notes will provide the basis for a white paper summarizing the meeting. This summary will not attribute statements to individuals. Reporters or stakeholders will not be present, so that we may encourage a candid discussion of the key issues. We look forward to seeing you in Berkeley for the workshop. If you have any questions, please contact Lucy Montanez at 510-642-9980, lucy@sims.berkeley.edu.
