My work experience
I worked as a systems analyst for a multinational corporation, developing business applications with clients all over the world. I also spent time with an international nonprofit organization that worked with the government of my country, the Philippines. Although these were very different experiences, they taught me the importance of correct and timely information in making decisions, whether it be in a private company or in a public or civil organization.
Why the I School
I wanted a graduate program related to IT that had the right balance between technical and non-technical topics, so that I could deepen the technical knowledge I already had and learn to apply my skills to solve real-world problems. I immediately appreciated the I School’s multidisciplinary approach and knew I would benefit from the range of subject areas, including sociology, business, engineering, and computer science.
I School cultural advantages
I always look at things very logically and very rigidly, but talking with people from backgrounds in psychology, history, philosophy, art, and business has taught me to look at challenges more holistically and to be open-minded — a valuable skill.
Plans for the future
I’d like to delve further into the world of information architecture and design. Ultimately, though, I would love to go back to my home country and try to adapt the concepts I’ve learned and apply it to the needs there.
