Degrees

B.Sc., Physics, Delhi University, 1999; M.Sc., Physics, Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, 2001; Post Graduate Diploma, Information Technology, Indian Institute of Technology, Bangalore, 2004

Research Interests

The use of information and computer technologies for development. I’m particularly interested in how rural computer centers work in India.

My Background

I studied physics and technology, but along the way, I realized that how technology is deployed and the way a community uses it interests me as much as the technology itself. Understanding technology helps me gauge its potential. Understanding the political and social fabric of the community helps me understand how technology is used.

Why I Chose the I School

I was attracted to the diversity of student interests and backgrounds. And there are established links between the I School and a broad range of UC Berkeley departments, with the potential for many more connections.
