My path to the I School
After getting my undergraduate degree in psychology, I worked for many years in the marketing and Web design world. I wanted to expand my technical knowledge but wasn’t ready to let go of the people side of the equation. At the I School I found a marriage of the technical and social sciences, bridging the gap between people and the machines built for them.
An information challenge that intrigues me
This is an amazing time to be studying information access, organization, retrieval, and privacy. With every new Web site or link, the tension grows between having access to an abundance of information and being overwhelmed by it.
I School advantage
I School courses take a deep dive into the core concepts and values of information and the challenges associated with it. We look at social influences and how information can be applied and protected in real-world settings. And the exposure isn’t just theoretical. The faculty and staff have huge contact networks and they work hard to link us with companies, research, fieldwork, and alumni who can help us apply our interests. As a result, I have a strong base from which to build off of in my own directions.
