MIDS Degree Boosts Alumni Careers

In August 2015, we celebrated the inaugural graduating class of 23 students in our Master of Information and Data Science (MIDS) program. Most MIDS students are already professionals working in and around data science during their time in the program. We followed up with them and were gratified to see the immediate, positive impact of their MIDS degree.

Here’s what some of them had to say about the program and their careers since graduation:

“It’s exactly the kind of job I was hoping for when I applied to MIDS: a product-facing job analyzing data for a company I believe in.

It’s only been a few months, but I’ve already done all sorts of things in my job, such as running experiments, designing new metrics, and doing exploratory data analysis.”

“I’ve been at Fitbit since November 2015 and have thoroughly enjoyed putting my recently acquired data science skills to good use while working with the most fascinating dataset I can personally imagine.”
–Kelsey Clubb
Associate Data Scientist, Fitbit
“The program has helped me tremendously. I have applied what I learned in the program in a number of ways in the work I did at Autodesk over the past two years. I took full advantage of the MIDS network when I was considering my options for my next career move.

Although the MIDS program is a relatively young program, it has already provided me with a lot of exposure, as several top companies I have interacted with over the past year are aware of and think very highly of the program and its graduates.”
