The lecture will be a synthesis of his most recent book, Mobile Communication and Society, which is to be published by MIT Press on November 15, 2006. Bio:
Among other appointments, he has been a member of the United Nations Secretary General's Advisory Council on Information and Communication Technology. He is currently a member of the Scientific Council of the European Research Council, the research funding institution of the European Union. His trilogy, The Information Age: Economy, Society, and Culture (Blackwell 1996-2003), has been translated into 22 languages. His most recent books are The Internet Galaxy (Oxford, 2001), The Information Society and the Welfare State. The Finnish Model (Oxford, 2002, co-author), and more recently, Mobile Communication and Society. A Global Perspective (co-author), to be published by MIT Press in November 2006. |
