Web 2.0 and the Future of Teaching and Learning

Thursday, October 21, 2010
4:00 pm to 5:30 pm
Dr. Deborah Everhart

Teaching and learning have changed dramatically in the past ten years due in part to the ubiquity of web resources and online tools for coursework, research, and communication. With the advent of Web 2.0, interactive information sharing, collaboration, and user-centered design have become the new norm for online activities. How are Web 2.0 changes impacting education? Are learning outcomes improving, teaching becoming more efficient and effective, and new forms of collaboration evolving? What are our opportunities to capitalize on positive changes, address negative trends, and chart new territory? From wikis and remix to personalized learning and educational gaming, this presentation will provide insights into current developments in participatory online environments and the evolution of teaching and learning paradigms to optimize the benefits of new technologies.
