• Microsoft Reasearch India Microsoft Research India, inaugurated in Bangalore on January, 2005, is one of six Microsoft Research labs worldwide. Its goal is to conduct basic and applied research in computer science, information technology, and the social relevance of these technologies. Of the several research areas at MSR India, the "Technology for Emerging Markets" group focuses on applications of computing for socio-economic development. • School of Information, University of California at Berkeley The UC Berkeley School of Information was created in 1994 to address one of society’s most compelling challenges: enabling people to create, find, manipulate, share, store, and use information in myriad forms. Originally known as the School of Information Management and Systems (SIMS), this research-and-learning enterprise became the School of Information in 2006. Through faculty research we explore and develop solutions and shape policies that influence how people seek, use, and share information to create knowledge. Our work takes us wherever information touches lives, often bringing us into partnership with diverse disciplines, from law, sociology, and business to publishing, linguistics, and computer science. • Siemens Corporate Technology, China • The IEEE Society on Social Implications of Technology • ACM-SIGCAS: Special Interest Group on Computers and Society We are seeking additional sponsors, primarily for travel grants. |
