How do I register?
Please follow the link "Register for ICTD2006" to register online. Is this primarily a technical or a social science conference? ICTD2006 is an inter-disciplinary conference which brings together researchers in both the social and technical sciences, with representation from anthropology, sociology, economics, political science, computer science, electrical engineering, industrial design, and information science. What does conference registration include? Standard Conference registration includes keynote addresses, presentation of papers and poster session, and conference proceedings. Also included is a dinner banquet on Thursday, May 25, continental breakfasts on Thursday, May 25 and Friday, May 26, refreshment breaks, and closing reception on Friday, May 26. Student registration doesn't include the dinner banquet on Thursday, May 25. Student conference attendees may register to attend the banquet for an additional $25. These options are available on our registration transaction page. Pre-registration is required. Badges and conference materials will be distributed at the registration desk located outside the auditorium. The registration desk opens 30 minutes prior to the start of the program. Please arrive early and present photo identification to check-in. Students will be required to show current student identification if they have registered at the student rate. Are there travel grants to visit the conference? There are limited travel grants, and at this point these are reserved for a few of the people presenting papers at the conference. All accepted presenters need to speak to the organizers about possible grants; there are no guaranteed funds. If your paper has not been accepted through the peer review system, it is highly unlikely that there will be any available grants. For more information, you may contact us by email. I am already registered; where should I stay? A number of hotels are within walking distance of the UC Berkeley campus. We do not directly assist registrants with their visa applications; however, we can provide you with a letter stating that you are registered for the conference, which you may use to support your visa application. Please send us an email with the subject title "ICTD2006 Invitation Letter Request." Include your full name and address and we will send you a letter by U.S. post and by email. I am interested in hosting a visiting ICTD attendee / I am interested in staying with a local host...how can I do this? We can't guarantee that you will find a match for your offer/need, but we will receive your information and share it with prospective hosts/visitors. Please send us an email with your name, email address, distance from campus, dates housing is offered/needed and any other pertinent information such as pets/allergies/special needs. I need a conference fee waiver. We will consider fee waivers for attendees from abroad and students who show a need for assistance and are interested in attending the conference. If you would like to apply for a registration fee waiver, please send us an email with the subject title "Registration Fee Waiver Application." Include your full name, affiliation, and a 100-word statement of need to be considered. The application deadline is April 14, 2006. You will be notified by April 17, 2006 if your application has been accepted and you will receive information on how to complete the registration process. Is this going to be a recurring conference? Yes. The first conference will be held in Berkeley due to an active scholarly community there, but the organizers envision a rotating international conference. We welcome other institutions to present proposals to host the conference in future years. I want to present my work at the conference. Only previously accepted papers will be presented at this conference. Where can I find out more about travel, transportation, accommodations, the campus, and the venue?
