Seeking an InternshipThe I School strongly recommends that students enrolled in the MIMS program participate in a summer internship between the first and second years of the program. Students who choose not to pursue a summer internship miss the valuable opportunity to apply and build on knowledge gained during their first-year course work and learn about work practices in the field of information. The details of an internship — salary, scope, length of internship — are negotiated between employer and student. To cultivate internship opportunities, we encourage students to post their resumes on personal Web pages and establish a presence on the I School-hosted student skills page. The student skills page lets students post resumes and self-select areas of interest, and is easily accessible to potential employers. For students pursuing non-profit or governmental summer internships, a limited number of support grants are available. (More information) |
