Choosing the iSchool

I School programs — Master's and Ph.D. — take a unique approach to educating information professionals. While other disciplines may address information challenges by focusing on either technology or social sciences, the I School merges these approaches with perspectives from the professions — business, law, journalism.

Our mission has both a technical component, concerned with the design and use of information systems and services, and a "human" component, concerned with understanding how people seek, obtain, evaluate, share, categorize, and use information.

Because I School programs are so specialized, we urge anyone interested in joining our community to explore our offerings thoroughly before seeking admission. You can find more information by reviewing our  frequently asked questions. If you find that our mission and our programs match your educational goals and professional aspirations, we invite you to apply to the I School.
