Application Instructions

The next opportunity to apply for either the MIMS or Ph.D. program is Fall 2009. The I School does not accept applications for spring term admissions. Our online application is available in September of the year prior to the fall term for which you are applying.

Fall 2008 Online Application

Before turning to the application instructions below, be sure to first read through either the Master's Admission Requirements or the Ph.D. Admission Requirements.

A complete application includes:

  • Application Fee (submitted with the online application)
  • Complete Online Application Forms
  • Statement of Purpose and Personal History Statement (Submitted with online application, form F)
  • Three Letters of Recommendation in sealed envelopes (form G)
  • Computer Competency Statement (Required of all MIMS applicants, not Ph.D.)
  • Current Resume
  • All transcripts of all college-level course work in sealed envelopes
  • Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores
  • TOEFL Scores(Required of all applicants whose country's official language is not English)

The I School requests that all applicants (1) apply online and (2) send all supporting materials in one package directly to the I School. Please do not send incomplete application packages. Gather all necessary supporting documents and send in one packet on or before the deadline (Note: If your letters of recommendation are being submitted online, please do not include hard copies of the letters in your supplemental packet). Letters of recommendation and transcripts must remain in their original, sealed envelopes.

Ph.D. applicants must submit all application materials no later than December 12th. MIMS applicants must submit all application materials no later than January 7th. Letters of recommendation, transcripts, and examination results should be submitted by the same deadline. The I School encourages all applicants to apply early. Admission decisions are usually made by the beginning of April.
